A job is about more than a paycheck — it's about your dignity. It's about building up working families and building out the middle class. It's about restoring America's basic bargain to every worker: if you take responsibility, we'll give you opportunity.
That’s why I will do everything I can to bring quality job opportunities to California’s 50th.
From my experience working for the US Department of Labor, I know firsthand the value of programs like “Registered Apprenticeships” that connect job seekers with employers who are in search of skilled workers. I’ve seen the lives and families who are hurt when we put corporate America ahead of the American worker. And I know that our rural and suburban communities need a seat at the table when it comes to new workforce programs.
There are 6 million job vacancies in America, including 360,000 in manufacturing and 200,000 in construction. If elected, I'll invest aggressively to bring job training programs to our district in traditional sectors as well as in high growth-sectors including healthcare, financial services, and high-tech.
I will work with local colleges, businesses, and innovators to introduce energy and infrastructure projects that will create thousands of jobs and vocational internships.
And I will guarantee that my #1 priority is always the long-term prosperity of the place we call home, which starts and ends with well-paying jobs.
